Graphite Flow State

Sketching in particular, produces a reliable trance-like tingle, as though my brain temporarily relocates to my hand. Or takes a nap. Or holds hands with my heart, whistling while they walk together. Before recently learning one name for it, I just new that I went somewhere else when making art. As a kid, I’d spend hours and hours, making layers of lines, getting lost in a world that I didn’t realize I was helping to create.

Lately I’ve been wondering how to create a business like creating an artwork; completely absorbed, blissfully scribbling for hours, only pulling back periodically to see what’s been created. Ty and I will be endlessly searching for more ways to make the process the pleasure. We hope our blog can be a hub for such explorations, and we’re grateful to have a home to share the messy bits of work, life & love that blur together like a thumb on charcoal.
